Behind Post Cross Shots
This is a light warm-up drill suitable for before matches.
Set up with an assist player just to the side of the post with the ball, and a shooter behind the post and on the opposite side to the assist. The other players queue in front of the post.
- The shooter, who is on the opposite side of the post from the assist, makes a sideways movement towards the side of the post that the assist is on.
- The assist player passes to the shooter and runs out to defend.
- The shooter receives the ball, steps back and takes the shot, then joins the back of the queue.
- The assist then turns to face the post and becomes the new shooter. They run sideways to the opposite side of the post, as the first shooter did.
- The process continues, with shots alternately coming from the left and right of the post.
When there are an odd number of players, each person will take shots from both sides of the post. However, when there are an even number they will always shoot from the same side. In this case after a few minutes restart the drill with the players shooting from the opposite side.
