Get Ahead Shooting Race
This activity pitches two teams against one another, trying to be the first to gain a three goal lead.
Set up two posts, they can be positioned like in the animation, or differently depending on what space is available. Put a row of cones nearby - you can pick how many you want but it should always bean odd number. Put one additional marker cone next to or on top of the middle cone in the row.
The two teams queue up in front of their posts and begin taking shots - any type of shot is fine, so pick whichever you would like to train.
When a player scores a goal they move the marker cone one position along the row towards their end. If the scoring percentage is high, you could instead say that the team must score three goals in a row before they can move the marker cone.
The first team to move the marker cone onto the last cone in the row wins!
If the two teams are very evenly matched, and the drill is taking a long time, you can wait until the marker cone is near the middle then remove one cone from each end of the row.
