Zig-Zag Shots
This warm up activity practices running in shots and sidestep shots.
Set up four or more posts in a zig-zag pattern. Each post has a player in the assist position with a ball. The remaining players queue up in front of the first post.
- The first player in the queue runs towards the first post, makes a sideways movement and receives the ball which they then shoot at the korf.
- If they score, they move onto the next post. If they miss, they collect the ball and stay at that post as the assist player. In this case, the original assist player moves on to the next post to be a shooter.
- At the second post, the shooter runs in for a running in shot.
- If they score they move onto the next post. If they miss they become the assist player and the former assist moves on instead.
- This repeats at the next post with a sidestep shot, and the next with a running in shot.
- After leaving the final post, the player joins the back of the queue in front of post 1.
Challenge the players to be the first to score 10 (or more!) goals.
Try mixing the types of shot up if you have specific shots you want to practice.
